Chronicle 55

Lunar Lightning had died. He was no more. But there was a human on planet Earth who knew of him. A human with the power to bring anything into reality with just her words.
Ironically, in a void, Lunar Lightning heard something.
“Goodnight sweetie, close your eyes,
Listen to my lullaby.
Look up there, in the sky, Lunar Lightning’s flying by.”
The suit that had been ripped from Lunar Lightning reformed in the sky above Big City. Lightning filled the elastic material, nearly bursting from the seams. He flew straight up towards the moon and called it his home. The moon was the only thing that made sense.
“He killed me. He killed Lunar Void. He’ll kill all of you.” Lunar Lightning told the aspects.
Howard began to float away from the central moon. They all turned to the Moon King, whose eyes shone moonlight and whose face was a shadow of itself. “I have no reason to kill any of you. Your power is already mine to take when I please.”
In demonstration of the fact, the Moon King sent a beam of moonlight at Lunar Blood, pulling him in. The other aspects grabbed at him, but the pull was too strong. Their King popped the suit like a mosquito and promptly absorbed his moon.
“You weren’t meant to come back, Lightning.” the King’s dark side covered his body.
Lunar Lightning was angry. He balled his fists and checked the others. They all did the same. The Moon King stood from his throne. None had ever seen him do so before. The moons on his crown were orbiting their spires rapidly.
With a blast of moonlight from one of his small moons, he removed all the aspects from the Central Moon. Except for one.
Lunar Lightning flew forward, wrapping himself in black and white electricity. He flew up towards the crack in the Moon King’s neck from his last attack. A hand moved to swat him, but he expected it. He sent a single line of lightning at the crack and it widened, causing the Moon King to cover it with both hands.
Moonlight shot from the small moons, which as Lunar Lightning got closer to, he realized they weren’t small at all. It was as if they grew and got further the closer he seemed to get. But they were his target. When he watched the moments of the Moon King absorbing the moons, he realized the power didn’t go to the central moon, it went to the many moons on his crown.
Lunar Lightning shot upward to the nearest one. It was marbled with many colors and its surface was unmarked; a perfect pearl of a moon. He covered himself in lightning and then released it towards the moon. It negated the electricity completely. There was no damage done. Worried now, he looked below to see the Moon King was fending off many other aspects, who challenged him head on. They were either just as angry as he was, or they were buying him time.
The next moon was a rocky, gray moon like his own. He launched himself at it, knowing that it would crumble if he flew fast enough. It was large however, and when he reached it he just smacked into its surface. Lightning from the impact spread through the moon, however. It cracked after a few moments, and then split apart. Energy flew out from it in a wave of force, shoving Lunar Lightning back against the spire it still orbited.
An idea came as he ascended the spire, seeing what lie at the top. It was sharp, a dagger if repurposed. And there were many spires upon the crown. He would need help to make any use of them.
Above the Moon King’s darkened forehead, Lunar Lightning waved lightning back and forth in the air to the other aspects. A few immediately got moving, the Moon King preoccupied defending his neck.
Some of the aspects arrived to watch the other moons growing, as if inhaling the power of the moons their King was absorbing during the assault.
“Lunar Metal, I need you to line the top of the crown with metal.” Lunar Lightning instructed. Metal moved to get it done. “Lunar Bubbles, I need you to wait for me at his hairline.” Bubbles got in position. “Lunar Hourglass, I need you to slow him down if he tries to stop us.” Hourglass bent forward and back to oblige, her figure very alluring to Lunar Lightning.
Lunar Metal was halfway done with the crown, covering the entire top with a thick layer of some alloy. LL looked down and watched Lunar Lightning get torn apart, fur filling the area of the Court. The King absorbed yet another moon. It would never be enough.
“All done.” Lunar Metal reported. Lunar Lightning signaled Bubbles to begin.
A giant bubble formed beneath the crown, lifting it slightly from the King’s head. It gave them an opening to lift it further.
“Now!”
Lunar Lightning and Lunar Metal flew beneath the crown and pushed it upwards hard. Bubbles supplied an even larger bubble to aid them. The King took notice and waved a hand at them, but it was slowed immensely by Hourglass, who was bent over to slow the fall of sand. Lunar Lightning stared at her for a slightly extended period, but the task at hand was demanding.
“I need a wire.” he asked of Metal, who produced one and handed it over.
The crown was flipped perfectly upside down, the pointed spires facing the top of the Moon King’s skull. Each of the moons around the spires began to orbit the King’s head. Even in the lower gravity, the weight of the crown was enough to penetrate the rocky skull and the less rocky brain. Lunar Lightning had wrapped the wire around the crown and began to send waves of electricity into it.
Loud zapping noises filled the Realm as the Moon King flashed his light and dark side every second. Lunar Lightning emptied himself of lightning and sent a final wave of shock into the wire. The Moon King went still. His eyes were burnt out. The moons which were orbiting his crown fell from the heights onto the Court below. He was dead.
Lunar Lightning felt a surge of energy enter his suit. It felt as if his lightning was raging within. Trying to get out. His suit shone with that energy and the others backed away.
“Are you the new Realm Lord?” one of the Aspects asked Lunar Lightning. Everyone was silent waiting for a response.
“I refuse the position if so.” he answered.
“Clean this up.” Howard returned and commanded them. Lunar Lightning began to back away. “We’ll have to await the other Realm Lords. Do not leave here, Lunar Lightning. You must answer to them.”
Howard reached for his arm but was too slow. Lunar Lightning spun and transported himself to Big City. The crown would weigh heavy on the head of another. They could choose another Realm Lord.
