Chronicle XXXII

There is immense darkness deep within all living beings. At the core of this is fear. Desire feeds this fear as the potential for loss opens up. Humans are especially susceptible to being coerced by this darkness that lurks beneath the surface. It watches every move until there is an opportunity to corrupt the heart and incite an action to further feed itself. The cycle is beyond physical, branching into the metaphysical realms, where beings lurk beyond the confines of structured reality.

Warden of the realms beyond, the vile one, Jarawangadananan is a creature of infinite forms. Man’s fear, when concentrated enough or vast enough, can lure this eternal beast from its dimension through the surface of the Earth. This can also be achieved through rituals with multiple summoners, channeling their fear to bring forth that which feasts.

Jarawangadananan is a deity far past the squabbles of man. It perceives all and engages in the physical realm only against its own will. This can often lead to incidents of summoners being eaten upon its emergence into the world. As this has been known for eons, only those with nothing to lose will gather to summon wrath incarnate.

As a man trapped in time, on Earth’s moon, Cassius Killmove went through waves of fury against the mysterious hero who brought him there. He was stuck within his own mind, unable to move without being affected by the atmosphere. Were he a normal human, he wouldn’t have lasted a moment. His condition, caused by HardStop, saved him in this case, whereas it was his life’s curse every other way.

In a forty-thousand dollar silver suit, torn up from battle, C.K. looked around with his eyes as tiny moon rocks floated around him. Some of them spoke a language he couldn’t understand and regularly gathered around him. He started considering that maybe his nemesis was actually from the moon. The tiny chatter around him and the thoughts of his enemies boiled rage inside of Killmove’s heart. That deep fear buried within him that he would never move again took full control of him.

While frozen still, the fear building inside of him reached through the dimensions and caught the attention of Jarawangadananan. From the small crater beside him, Jara burst in a portal of flame, extending into space like the skyscraper C.K. used to operate out of. His eyes darted to the demon, whose head was nearly out of sight. Its pincers extended their length to reach toward him. As the pointed end neared his chest, he dashed away, losing a moment of survival on the moon.

At his next position, standing still, Cassius Killmove was uncomfortably depleted of air. His fear was forcing Jara to come through even more and have a tantrum of sorts, waving its carapace around. He was unsure how to outlast the primordial hunger thrashing about. Without options, he accepted his fate and cursed the names of his enemies. Jarawangadananan’s pincers extended to a ridiculous length to pierce the shoulders of Cassius. To its mouth he was carried, where Jara dropped him in, having him fall endlessly in its infinite body.

Jarawangadananan retracted into the portal on the moon’s surface back into its own realm. In the blackness, there was somehow flame. Cassius’ body was being moved from the station he was trapped in, and he saw it no longer as a demise, but as an opportunity. While he didn’t move himself, his shoulders weren’t bleeding. He just had to wait for an opportunity to escape. Within Jara, he saw other beings trapped, or moving about freely. There was a dark red swordsman coming in and out at rapid intervals as well as a strange, central being that was infinitely far away, yet everywhere, at the dead center of the realm.

Cassius Killmove became familiar with fear as he floated inside of Jarawangadananan. His fear of never becoming whole again was resolved. He embraced the ‘curse’ which plagued his mind and body. He even wondered what he would be without this power. Occasionally, he’d try to dash around, but there was truly nowhere to go.

A group of summoners called upon that which all men fear, bringing it out of the Earth. Cassius Killmove dashed out of the mouth of the beast in the center of what he was surprised to see was Big City. Before Jara could eat its summoners, Cassius dashed through each of them, effectively exploding their bodies. He was thrilled to be at peace with his power, blanketed in blood and entrails.

Killmove looked up, realizing Jarawangadanan hadn’t left. He had taken its food. Pincers stretched out at him while the insectoid thrashed. Unhindered by the moon, he was up for the battle. He was lucky the military began to respond to Jara’s emergence, calling the unknown one’s attention away from himself. Cassius fled, ready to exact revenge on those who caused him pain.
